BACKSEAT GOODBYE'S OFFICIAL SITE

From last.fm:
"Chad Sugg is the twenty-two-year-old behind the band Backseat Goodbye. Chad began Backseat with a few songs recorded through his laptop’s inner microphone.

Backseat Goodbye has played shows with the likes of The Format and Hellogoodbye, been chosen to play 27,000 attendance festivals along with Third Eye Blind, had a cd debut at number 48 in the iTunes Top 100 Folk Album Charts, been chosen a PurePick and featured on the front page of PureVolume.com, sold out of a limited 100 pressed Christmas cd within only 7 hours, and so much more.

Chad has written every Backseat Goodbye song and recorded every single one himself. He has also ran every other aspect of BG since the beginning, including booking all of his shows, getting press, attracting label attention and much more.

Currently, none of the albums are available in retail stores. However, fans are encouraged to purchase cds, shirts, and other merchandise that are always available at live shows and are also available at Backseat Goodbye’s online store.

According to Chad himself, Backseat Goodbye will always be his solo work, however he does plan on adding a full band to play with him at live shows in the future. But even when that happens, he will still be writing every bit of BG’s material and playing all of the instruments on his albums."

Jack's Mannequin (07/06/09)

Jack's Mannequin

JACK'S MANNEQUIN'S OFFICIAL SITE

From last.fm:
"Jack’s Mannequin is the solo project of Andrew McMahon who is also the vocalist, pianist and main songwriter of the band Something Corporate. The name Jack’s Mannequin originated from one of McMahon’s songs called Dear Jack, which was written about a friend of his whose brother was diagnosed with childhood leukemia. Andrew himself was diagnosed with leukemia on June 1, 2005 and cancelled a show for the first time ever when he received the call from his doctor.

The initial impulse behind McMahon’s solo project Jack’s Mannequin was Locked Doors, a song he recorded in December 2003, which he felt was too different from previous Something Corporate material to be one of their songs. He realized that, if he would ever decide to release it, it would be on a solo album rather than a Something Corporate record. The idea seemed to be off the table, until in late summer 2004 both McMahon and his bandmates were exhausted from months of touring. They decided to take a temporary break. During his time off, McMahon started writing songs, knowing they would not see the light of day as Something Corporate songs. These songs were a more therapeutic approach McMahon took, and therefore a more personal and intimate testament of his songwriting."

"Modest Mouse is an American indie rock band. The band was formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington, USA by guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green and bassist Eric Judy. Since being signed to Sony’s Epic Records in 2000, the band has attained significant popular success with songs such as PlayFloat On, PlayDashboard and PlayMissed the Boat.

The band’s current configuration is Isaac Brock (vocals, guitar), Johnny Marr (guitar), Tom Peloso (guitar), Eric Judy (bass), Jeremiah Green (drums) and Joe Plummer (drums). Foo Fighters

FOO FIGHTERS' OFFICIAL SITE

From last.fm:
"Foo Fighters are an American alternative rock/post-grunge band formed by singer/guitarist Dave Grohl in 1995 in Seattle, USA. Grohl formed the group as a one-man project after the dissolution of his previous band Nirvana in 1994. Prior to the release of Foo Fighters in 1995, Grohl drafted Nate Mendel (bass), William Goldsmith (drums), and Pat Smear (guitar) to complete the group. Goldsmith left during the recording of the group’s second album The Colour and the Shape (1997), soon followed by Smear. They were replaced by Taylor Hawkins and Franz Stahl, respectively, although Stahl left prior to the recording of the group’s third album, There Is Nothing Left to Lose (1999).

Chris Shiflett joined as the band’s second guitarist after the completion of There Is Nothing Left to Lose. The band released its fourth album One by One in 2002. The group followed that release with the two-disc In Your Honor (2005), which was split between acoustic songs and harder-rocking material. Foo Fighters released its sixth album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace in 2007. Over the course of the band’s career, three of its albums have won Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album, and all six have been nominated for Grammys. WRECKLESS ERIC'S OFFICIAL SITE

From last.fm:
"Wreckless Eric (born Eric Goulden on May 18, 1954 in East Sussex, England) was part of the pub-rock scene before he became one of the earliest artists to be signed to Stiff Records. Even as a singer-songwriter with a distinct singing voice, his records failed to chart but his live shows were his main successes, winning him a faithful audience to whom he continues to play to this day.

Interest in Wreckless Eric’s music was renewed with the inclusion of the song “Whole Wide World” on the soundtrack to the movie “Stranger Than Fiction” (2006). The movie features a scene where the leading man (played by Will Ferrell) sings the song while he strums timidly on his guitar.
The same song also appeared in “Me Without You” a few years earlier."

Ringside (07/02/09)

Ringside

Photobucket

From Wikipedia:
"Ringside is an indie rock band from Hollywood, California. The band consists of Scott Thomas and actor Balthazar Getty, who fuse indie rock with electronic beats. Their debut album Ringside was released on April 19, 2005 under Fred Durst's label Flawless Records and Geffen Records, with single "Tired of Being Sorry" achieving moderate success. The song was later covered by Singer/songwriter Enrique Iglesias of his eighth album Insomniac and was released as a single in Europe. The song "Struggle" from their self-titled album was featured on a Pontiac Torrent commercial, the movie Doom and on the TV series Six Feet Under. The track also appeared briefly on the ambient play list of the Schecter Guitars website, as Schecter promotes artists that use their guitars.

After some speculation, Getty confirmed that he and Thomas were finishing a second album when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on October 9, 2007. He went on to say that they were "mixing the record right now and it'll be out in the new year"."

BRAD SUCKS OFFICIAL SITE

From last.fm:
"Brad Sucks is the stage name of the artist Brad Turcotte, whose “one man band with no fans” was among the first to take full advantage of the free culture movement for advertising and distribution. (He is not to be confused with Brad Turcotte, the manager of Compadre Records.)

Turcotte opened his website in 2002 with the intention of producing “open source music”. His self-produced single, Brad Sucks One, included the audio source files used to create the finished files, and later he posted these source files to his website along with the MP3s.

Turcotte waives all rights to his songs, essentially making them public domain. This total freedom allows him to promote his music through sites such as Magnatune and ccMixter, as well as Myspace and Podsafe. Since he was one of the first to make this decision, he also received free publicity through blogs and interviews in free culture magazines. His first full CD, I Don’t Know What I’m Doing, was released both through Magnatune and a limited “professional” printing from his own website.

Turcotte also runs the website stripcreator.com , which allows participants to create their own talking-head webcomics. He is also the creator of in4mador. He is also listed on Sellaband, a website where artists co-ordinate raising money to record an album."
