Breathe Carolina (07/08/09)

Breathe Carolina

Photobucket

From Last.fm:
"Breathe Carolina is an electro-pop duo from Denver, Colorado. Their music is comprised of synthesized beats and tag-teamed, vocoded vocals ranging from melodic harmonies to abrasive screaming. They have released one iTunes album titled “Gossip”, and released their first hard-copy album, “It’s Classy, Not Classic” on Sept. 16th, 2008. Their second album has been recorded, “Hello Fascination”, and is set for release on August 18, 2009.

Breathe Carolina wrote and recorded It’s Classy, Not Classic as a duo, with David producing, in their home studio. Although this is David’s first stage venture as a vocalist, his chemistry and camaraderie with Kyle leveled the learning curve. For live shows they recruited a full band, including a guitarist, two keyboard players, and a DJ."

As Tall As Lions (07/08/09)

As Tall As Lions

OFFICIAL WEBSITE FOR AS TALL AS LIONS

From Last.fm:
"After coming off the road in mid-2005, following months of touring in support of their Triple Crown debut, Lafcadio, Long Island-based band As Tall As Lions – vocalist/guitarist Daniel Nigro, guitarist Saen Fitzgerald, bassist Julio Tavarez and drummer Cliff Sarcona – spent more than half a year channeling their energies into crafting an album that would not only realize the lofty ambitions of these four young men but define them as a band, once and for all. The resulting self-titled album - released August 8, 2006 on Triple Crown/East West - provides dramatic evidence that they met this self-imposed challenge, and then some.

As Tall As Lions’ journey toward maturation began in casual fashion, the original version of the band forming around Fitzgerald while the members were still in high school. During the next few years, they endured the lineup changes and artistic roadblocks many young bands experience before taking their present, permanent form. But they still had some growing to do.

“When we started doing Lafcadio, we really didn’t understand what we were getting ourselves into – we were just kids” says Nigro. “We had made a couple demos, put them on the Internet and, after a couple of days, we had record labels calling us ready to sign the band. We all thought this whole band thing was going to come too easily after that. We dropped out of college and made As Tall As Lions our priority. At first, it was a tough adjustment. We’d never been on tour before, and getting used to life on the road was draining. I think we’ve all grown up a lot since then, and our attitude has changed for the better. We put everything we had into this new record and are extremely happy with how it came out.”"

OFFICIAL SITE OF IMOGEN HEAP

From last.fm:
" Romford, Essex, England (1998 – present)
Imogen Heap (born December 9, 1977) is a British singer-songwriter / electronica artist from Romford, Essex, England. She grew up playing music from an early age, and by her eleventh birthday she was writing her own songs. From the age of 15, she studied at the BRIT School Of Performing Arts & Technology in Croydon, South London, recording three tracks for the school’s annual CD between 1994 and 1995, “Aliens” being the title track of the latter.

Heap enjoyed a prestigious live debut, performing four songs (backed by friends Acacia) between sets by The Who and Eric Clapton at the 1996 Prince’s Trust Concert in Hyde Park, London. Her debut album, I Megaphone (an anagram of “Imogen Heap”) was internationally released in 1998 on independent record label Almo Sounds and garnered critical acclaim. However, as production of the album neared completion, it was announced that the record label had been sold and would be shut down. I-Megaphone featured collaborations with Guy Sigsworth and Dave Stewart. In Japan, the regional distributor, Zora, re-released the album in 2002, featuring “Blanket,” her collaboration with Urban Species which was released as a single in the United Kingdom, and a Frou Frou remix of one of her B-sides, a video to which was released exclusively to Japanese media. Following the disbanding of her UK and USA record label, I Megaphone was scarce in circulation, having not been re-printed until November 2006. An independent Brazillian record label has rights to the record, and has issued limited copies, some of which are available on eBay."

BACKSEAT GOODBYE'S OFFICIAL SITE

From last.fm:
"Chad Sugg is the twenty-two-year-old behind the band Backseat Goodbye. Chad began Backseat with a few songs recorded through his laptop’s inner microphone.

Backseat Goodbye has played shows with the likes of The Format and Hellogoodbye, been chosen to play 27,000 attendance festivals along with Third Eye Blind, had a cd debut at number 48 in the iTunes Top 100 Folk Album Charts, been chosen a PurePick and featured on the front page of PureVolume.com, sold out of a limited 100 pressed Christmas cd within only 7 hours, and so much more.

Chad has written every Backseat Goodbye song and recorded every single one himself. He has also ran every other aspect of BG since the beginning, including booking all of his shows, getting press, attracting label attention and much more.

Currently, none of the albums are available in retail stores. However, fans are encouraged to purchase cds, shirts, and other merchandise that are always available at live shows and are also available at Backseat Goodbye’s online store.

According to Chad himself, Backseat Goodbye will always be his solo work, however he does plan on adding a full band to play with him at live shows in the future. But even when that happens, he will still be writing every bit of BG’s material and playing all of the instruments on his albums."

Foo Fighters (07/03/09)

Foo Fighters

FOO FIGHTERS' OFFICIAL SITE

From last.fm:
"Foo Fighters are an American alternative rock/post-grunge band formed by singer/guitarist Dave Grohl in 1995 in Seattle, USA. Grohl formed the group as a one-man project after the dissolution of his previous band Nirvana in 1994. Prior to the release of Foo Fighters in 1995, Grohl drafted Nate Mendel (bass), William Goldsmith (drums), and Pat Smear (guitar) to complete the group. Goldsmith left during the recording of the group’s second album The Colour and the Shape (1997), soon followed by Smear. They were replaced by Taylor Hawkins and Franz Stahl, respectively, although Stahl left prior to the recording of the group’s third album, There Is Nothing Left to Lose (1999).

Chris Shiflett joined as the band’s second guitarist after the completion of There Is Nothing Left to Lose. The band released its fourth album One by One in 2002. The group followed that release with the two-disc In Your Honor (2005), which was split between acoustic songs and harder-rocking material. Foo Fighters released its sixth album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace in 2007. Over the course of the band’s career, three of its albums have won Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album, and all six have been nominated for Grammys. BRAD SUCKS OFFICIAL SITE

From last.fm:
"Brad Sucks is the stage name of the artist Brad Turcotte, whose “one man band with no fans” was among the first to take full advantage of the free culture movement for advertising and distribution. (He is not to be confused with Brad Turcotte, the manager of Compadre Records.)

Turcotte opened his website in 2002 with the intention of producing “open source music”. His self-produced single, Brad Sucks One, included the audio source files used to create the finished files, and later he posted these source files to his website along with the MP3s.

Turcotte waives all rights to his songs, essentially making them public domain. This total freedom allows him to promote his music through sites such as Magnatune and ccMixter, as well as Myspace and Podsafe. Since he was one of the first to make this decision, he also received free publicity through blogs and interviews in free culture magazines. His first full CD, I Don’t Know What I’m Doing, was released both through Magnatune and a limited “professional” printing from his own website.

Turcotte also runs the website stripcreator.com , which allows participants to create their own talking-head webcomics. He is also the creator of in4mador. He is also listed on Sellaband, a website where artists co-ordinate raising money to record an album."

Hot Action Cop (06/30/09)

Hot Action Cop

Photobucket

From last.fm:
"The group released their self-titled debut album on Atlantic Records in 2003. Rob Werthner (vocalist/songwriter/frontman) formed the band back in the 1990s with bassist Luis Espaillat and drummer Kory Knipp. With many musical influences (including the Bloodhound Gang, Eminem, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Limp Bizkit), he came up with plenty of songs with funky beats and lyrics about sex.

The name of the band comes from the irreverent nickname that Werthner gave the boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend after she and Werthner broke up in the early ’90s. He was an NYPD officer with a feathery out-of-date haircut.

Their song ‘Fever for the Flava’ was featured on the soundtrack of a few films, most notably the American Wedding and Grind sountracks (as well as appearing in episodes of the shows King of the Hill and The Man Show); a version with custom lyrics (about cars instead of sex) appeared in Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2."
